Barack Obama was willing to GIVE Wall Street just what they asked for in a bailout, but refuses to GIVE Main Street what they need in the way of JOBS.

Wednesday December 09, 2010

The increase of troops to "fight" in Afghanistan has removed a large base of Barack Obama's support, and the July 2011 drawdown scheme is certainly a political ploy.

Tuesday December 08, 2009

As of today, it is clear that the U.S. Congress is determined to pass Health Care legislation that will not really reform what Barack Obama called a "broken system," and that if they do, and Obama signs it, we can be sure that it is for political purposes only.  Unless the Health Care Insurance companies are removed from the dispensing of Health Care, the profit motive will always increase rates, and deny care.

Listen to Cindy Sheehan's weekly radio show for great insight into the cause of Peace, Barack Obama's address, and the real facts about America's misguided adventure in Afghanistan.

Barack Obama is sending 30,000 troops to fight the Taliban.  History tells us, and experts agree, there will be "NO" victory.  So in 2011, when things are the same, or worse, will we retreat, or claim victory (when there will be none).  No, we'll probably send more troops again.  Sure Barack, you tried real well in saying that Afghanistan is not Vietnam.  This video of Pete Seeger's song, Waist Deep In The Big Muddy, written in 1967 (and censored from TV) is all about a conflict that was going badly, and military escalation.  We know how Vietnam turned out.  "Waist Deep In The Big Muddy, and The Big Fool Said To Push On."

The mainstream in American politics continues what Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. called "the prophesying of smooth patriotism," and neglects the "mandates of conscience, and the reading of history."  The voice of Dr. King still cries out, "Come Back Home.  Come Home America."  Click on his name and watch what is perhaps the greatest American speech on war, Why I Am Opposed To The Vietnam War.  In it, Dr. King speaks about many of society's ills that are enhanced by war.

Here is a great letter by Michael Moore to Barack Obama regarding the President's increase in troops to Afghanistan

Thursday, December 3, 2009

It is long overdue that Dick Cheney, and the radical right-wing "chicken-hawks" who never served their country in battle, yet attempt to rule the war debate, enlist in the military and fight on the front lines for the safety of our country they say is terribly at risk of attack by Iraq and Afghanistan.  While some may be too old to enlist (they could still serve in non combat capacities overseas), they all have children of age to join the military, who make a mockery of our nation by sitting the wars out, yet purposely supporting them.

The U. S. Supreme Court overturned a lower court ruling that would have forced the Obama administration to release the Detainee Abuse Photos.  This decision, as well as Obama's efforts fighting the release, is simply a carrying on of Bush policy.  When coupled with Obama's "troop surge" strategy for Afghanistan announced last night, it is plainly clear that Barack Obama needs to apologize to George W. Bush.

When Barack Obama addresses Americans tonite at 8PM, we will find out whether he will be a PEACE president or a WAR president.

America is able to fund Israel (a wealthy industrial nation), with billions of dollars each year, while the people in Israel ALL enjoy Universal Health Care.

While we wait for Barack Obama to speak to the Nation about Afghanistan, here is a video about the continuing Occupation of Iraq.

Here is a video by Noam Chomsky from October 2008 that brings to light the Anti-Democratic nature of the financial system.  At the time, the Congress was receiving calls 20-1 against the bailout, yet they did it anyway.

Friday, November 27, 2009

If you want to truly understand the myth involved in our leaders use of the term Globalization, watch this video by Noam Chomsky.  He clearly shows the two opposing ideas.  One is of the true meaning, the integration of ideas, culture and people, and the second, the Corporatist's propoganda emanating from the neo-Liberal idea of controlling the economic affairs and resources of the people.

Thursday, November 26, 2009

Two politicians who were shut out from mass media coverage in 2008 were Ron Paul (a true Conservative), and Ralph Nader (a true Liberal).  Both of these men represent the core constituents of their ideologies, and speak about the core principles of the conservative and liberal parties.  This fact is proof positive that we have ONE party in America, that Noam Chomsky calls the Business Party.

Since our government is us, as in We The People, when you hear terms like, "limited government," what the term implies is limiting the people's involvement in government affairs.

With the Health Care debate, as with all issues this year, it is clear that the Republicans will vote as a party against any change or reform.  In fact the Blue Dog Democrats are as well.  Barack Obama needs to accept this, and move forward without them on the agenda he was elected to impose.  Elections have CONSEQUENCES!

Monday, November 23, 2009

One year ago this week, I was working on a Health Care Reform event for Barack Obama's transition team.  The event, like all Obama events I hosted, was not only well attended, more people showed up than signed up.  Americans caught in the downward spiral of the Health Care crisis were concerned and motivated to CHANGE the current system.  A year later, two points are evidently clear.  The Democrats in Congress, by bowing to the Health Care Industry, are unwilling to give Americans the change they want desperately, and Republicans want no reform at all.  Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH), responding to his NO vote on HR3962 on November 7, 2009 said, "clearly, Insurance Companies are the problem, not the solution."

Sunday, November 22, 2009

The so-called victory in the Senate Vote yesterday was only to debate Health Care Reform.  Now the fight begins, and if you watch closely, you will see who is representing Americans, and who is representing the Health Care Industry.  When the House had their battle to pass reform 2 weeks ago, Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) said, "clearly the Insurance Companies are the problem, not the solution."

Saturday November 21, 2009

This week, Ben Bernanke, the Chairman of The Federal Reserve, spoke to the Economic Club of New York, and his remarks have not been reported as one would perceive based on their importance for the average man and woman in America.  He said, "the best thing about the labor market right now is that it may be getting worse more slowly."  Very grim news for mainstreet.  Isn't it time for Barack Obama and the Congress to do something to alleviate the burden of joblessness in America?

Friday November 20, 2009

Right Wing groups who pass themselves off as Christians and their media propoganda machines are again exploiting incidents in America for political purposes.  In the wake of the Fort Hood massacre in Texas, these radical extremists, who are denouncing Islam as a violent, terrorist religion, and blaming Obama for it, never once spoke out about George W. Bush as he held hands, hugged, and kissed the brutal Islamic dictator from Saudi Arabia.

Thursday November 19, 2009

A judge ruled this week that the Army Corps of Engineers was at fault for the Levee's breach in New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina.  As a nation, we should never forget also, the fault of George W. Bush as commander-in-chief, and his neglect of the situation after being warned of the certain grave outcome only days before Katrina made landfall.  This lesson of neglect, plays out today in the lack of response by the Obama Administration to the warnings of the experts about the dire situation for America in the Economy, Afghanistan, and Health Care Reform.  As many historical experts assert today, we are witnessing the decline of America, and our elected officials do nothing but line their pockets, and represent the moneyed interests in Washington.

Wednesday November 18, 2009

In the "Progressive Era" in America (1890-1920), the goals of reformers were:

1) Remove corruption and undue influence from government.
2) Include more people directly in the political process.
3) Government must play a role to solve social problems, and establish fairness in economic matters.

With America languishing because of corruption and the influence of the wealthy in government, and the largest disparity between rich and poor since the Great Depression, a major Progressive Movement is truly needed.

Tuesday November 17, 2009

On Sunday, CNN reported that the cost of adding 40,000 troops to Afghanistan would mean at least $40 Billion a year.  At this moment, the total cost of the wars and occupations in Iraq and Afghanistan now stands at $933 Billion ($933,000,000,000) with no end in sight.  If both occupations ended today, the long term costs might easily reach $3 Trillion.  As President Barack Obama weighs the decision about what course to take in Afghanistan, we should all remember that when the Iraq war started, it was predicted by Bush Administration economic advisor Lawrence Lindsay (who was soon after fired) to cost $100 - $200 Billion, to which then Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld replied, "baloney,.....the entire war will only cost $50-$60 Billion," and Defense Department Neo-Con Paul Wolfowitz added, "the Iraqi Oil" will pay for it.  All lies.

Nobel laureate economist Joseph Stiglitz believes that the U. S. Government purposely hid the true cost of the wars from the American people when they started, and we believe they are hiding it now.  Complicit in the lies of the cost of the now 6 1/2 year occupation of Iraq and 8 year occupation of Afghanistan are all the major Mass Media networks in America like CNN.  They did no real investigative reporting on the lead up to the wars, and reported as truth, only what they were told by George Bush and his cronies.  CNN, like Fox News, MSNBC, ABC, NBC, CBS, Right-Wing Talk Radio, and all other outlets in the Corporate Controlled Media are simply the mouthpieces of the massive government military industrial complex (which includes every member of Congress that votes for and approves war-funding), and the corporations who profit from war on the backs of the American taxpayer.

It was glaringly evident in 2008, that Sarah Palin lacked any qualification to be chosen for such a high office as vice-president.  It was well known by all progressive minds who covered the election.  What was known then also, and written about by conservatives and progressives alike, was that John McCain, in an effort to win the presidency, was willing to throw the country aside.  His "Country First" motto is among the greatest lies in American political history.

In Sarah Palin's new book, Going Rogue, do out in stores on November 17th, she says about the McCain camp, "You told me how to dress, what to say, who to talk to, who not to talk to, who my heroes were supposed to be, and we're still losing."  Two things are evidently clear.  John McCain is a scoundrel, not a hero, and Sarah Palin is unqualified to be a leader at any level.  She was so unqualified, that the McCain camp, which included many intelligent and experienced campaign people, were afraid to even let her be who she was.  Even more reprehensible today is the fact that when Sarah Palin was let loose on the campaign to say what she wanted, she used and inspired false, hateful rhetoric.

What makes her seriously flawed as a candidate for president is that she has NO real intellectual curiosity, NO serious education on any issue, let alone the major ones, NO genuinely striking accomplishments at any level of government (other than lying about being against the Bridge to Nowhere after she was for it), and NO real popular support.  She is only popular among a fringe group of right-wing extremists.  She appeals to a wing of the party that is so fanatical, they mirror the very violent Islamic Jihadist's they condemn, in both speech and action.

Progressives are asking, where is the needed regulation and reform of the financial sector?  The regulatory rules that got us here (into the financial crisis that led to a massive Bank bailout a year ago) have not changed, according to Elizabeth Warren, a professor at Harvard Law School.  We will be in the same place we were in last October very soon without major regulatory change.

Saturday, November 14, 2009

If you look at American Politics honestly, in the past year alone, we have gotten rid of Bush, and brought in Obama.  Both men supported the TARP bailout of the wealthy bankers, as did John McCain.  None of them represented the will of the people who were adamantly against the bailout.  We really have one party in America, that Noam Chomsky calls the "Business Party."  While the will of the majority of people in 2009 is (PROGRESSIVE) for major Financial Sector Reform, Universal Health Care, an End to War, Ethics and Accountability, etc., the rule of the Business Party (Republicans and Democrats) is not, nor ever will be.  Election Reform and Campaign Finance Reform is desperately needed, and is the only change that will break the stranglehold of corporate power and big money influence that has ruined America.  The citizens of America are responsible as we stand idly by and allow the perversion of our Government to thrive.  Every talk show in the Mass Media gives 24 hours a day of airtime to the Business Party, and none to other parties or the ideas of real working class Americans.  That is not Democracy!  It is time for many to turn off the TV and go out in the street.

Friday, November 13, 2009

Since the Mass Media in America has never reported on, nor done any serious in depth investigative coverage of the motive for the 9/11 WTC attacks, most Americans do not even realize what it is.  Today's reports that folks in N.Y. worry that if the trial of the masterminds of 9/11 are held in NYC, they will subject themselves to terrorism, is simply ridiculous.  We were attacked on 9/11 because of our unbridled support for Israel (even when they commit terror attacks on the Palestinians), our support of the ruthless dictatorship in Saudi Arabia, and our huge military presence in the Islamic holy lands.  Our preemptive war and occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan has only increased the list.  Until we change our misguided imperialistic foreign policy, NYC, and the U.S. will always remain a target.

The Sarah Palin Book Tour keeps making headlines.  Progressives do not understand why.  She offers no significant discussion on any policy in America.  Her comments and actions have proven to be so thoroughly ignorant that the only good she will accomplish is to drag the Republican Party down even further.  With talk of Book Tours and Talk Shows it is time for all Media outlets to move her plans and ideas to the Entertainment section, and stop wasting peoples time with talk of politics.  Would any rational person really consider voting for someone to be the leader of the free world who could not finish one term as Governor of a state?  She has no major accomplishments in her life, and lacks any real intellectual curiosity.  She did not earn her spot on the ticket with McCain, she was chosen.  Many conservatives, like George Will, and William Buckley, endorsed Obama because of that choice.  Her presidential ambition is at best, silly, and the (mostly violent, racist Tea Parters) folks that support her, scary.

In the midst of the current Recession (an economy worse than at any time since the Great Depression), the Republican's loss of both Houses of Congress in 2006, and the White House in 2008, it would be laughable were it not criminal, that George W. Bush has the gall to "warn Americans" about government trying to stop risk taking in the financial sector, spending excessively, or placing regulations on the Banks that every American knows are out of control.  When it comes to the economy, George not only has no credibility, he is the chief culprit in today's economic demise of the average working man and woman.

While outlining his vision for a policy institute at Southern Methodist University that bears his name, W. is again trying to rewrite history.  While president, he did not veto one spending bill in the first 7+ years in office, while his pen signed legislation
that doubled our National Debt, expanded the size of government, bailed out the wealthiest Banks for the often illegal and corrupt risks they took gambling away our money, and did not enforce regulations that existed to protect us.

Echoing the Reagan mantra of government is not the solution, but the problem, George the Dunce, must believe the average American is stupid.  When he left Washington last January, the polls showed 23% were.  In 1980, America was the largest Creditor Nation in the world.  After 8 years of Ronald Reagan, we were the largest Debtor Nation the world had ever known with a debt that reached $3 Trillion.  Bush took the debt to $10 Trillion!  The fact that 58 million people voted for John McCain and his Bush/Republican economic ideals should be disturbing to everyone.

Progressives know the lesson from history shows that only a tough watch on Big Business will keep the powerful from taking advantage of the weak.  When FDR took over in 1932, it was 20 years before the Republican party regained the White House again.  If our electorate is informed and educated, they won't be back any time soon.  Our only protection from the powerful elites is REGULATION!  FDR is responsible for instituting smart aggressive regulation, and massive government spending projects that put people to work.  Many economists believe he actually did too little spending, and that prolonged the Depression.  But his leadership helped repair our broken economy in the 1930's, and those same policies could work again.  The way to pay for it is taxes on the wealthy.

Barack Obama needs to find his Progressive self and act on it now, for the good of the country.  The time for reaching across the aisle must end!
